½ oz Lime Juice
½ oz Simple Syrup
About a bar spoon of Wild Card Absinthe
Lime wheel

Our Merrylegs Genever Style Gin makes a fantastic gin & juice cocktail. (Coat the inside walls of the glass by using a small pour or Misto of absinthe.) Combine Merrylegs Genever, lime juice, and simple syrup in a shaker tin with ice. Hibiscus Bourbon-Rita

HibiscusBourbonRita

1½ oz C.W. Irwin Bourbon
¾ oz Lime Juice
½ oz Orange Juice
½ oz Hibiscus Simple Syrup*
Lime Wheel for Garnish
Salt (Optional for Rim)

Begin by running lime wheel around rim of martini glass. Now dip lightly in coarse salt. In clean shaker tin add all ingredients, then ice and shake gently to blend. Strain into prepared martini glass, garnish with lime wheel.

A wonderful idea for those wanting to have a tart drink without being overly sweet. Light floral notes from the hibiscus flowers compliment orange notes alongside a delicious bourbon to make this vibrant “bourbon-rita” a good fit for all palates. It’s also a great option for preparing in large batches for group parties.

Zen Garden Gimlet

zengardengimlet

2 ½ oz Oregon Spirit Vodka
¾ oz Simple Syrup
¾ oz Lime Juice
3 Cucumber Slices (1 slice for garnish)
Basil Sprig for Garnish
Bar Spoon of The Bitter Housewife Cardamom Bitters

Begin by dry muddling cucumber slices in the bottom of shaker tin. Add remaining ingredients, then ice and shake well for at least 30 seconds. Double strain (using both hawthorne strainer and super fine strainer) into a chilled martini glass. Now prepare the garnish by lightly spanking basil sprig in your palm. This technique will bring out the wonderful herbaceous aroma without damaging the leaves. Make a small cut representing the radius of the cucumber and place basil sprig through slit in cucumber slice. Finish by garnishing over rim of martini glass.

Caribbean Sour

Caribbean Sour
1½ oz One Eyed Jon Spiced Rum
½ oz Egg White
¾ oz Lemon Juice
¾ oz Simple Syrup
Bar Spoon of Amaretto
Lemon Twist for Garnish

Begin by adding the all ingredients except amaretto to a clean shaker tin with no ice and shake. This is referred to as ‘dry shaking’, which will emulsify the egg white without diluting the drink while also adding a nice layer of foam to the cocktail. Next add ice and shake hard, chilling ingredients quickly with minimal dilution. Strain into chilled coupe glass and float one bar spoon of amaretto on top of cocktail. Garnish with a lemon twist.

Not many drinks light up my palate like a traditional sour. Using our unique One Eyed Jon Spiced Rum adds depth and complexity to this delightful cocktail, with notes of cardamom, rosemary, pepper, coffee and the additional dash of amaretto.

¾ oz Raspberry Rose Simple Syrup (Available at OSD Tasting Room)
Club Soda Water
Mint Sprig for Garnish

Begin by adding Merrylegs Genever, Cointreau and Raspberry Rose Simple Syrup to clean shaker tin. Add ice and gently shake ingredients. Strain into old fashioned glass over fresh ice. Top with club soda water. Finally, to release the aroma of the mint, take mint sprig and place in the palm of your hand, gently “spank” with your other hand. This will give the cocktail a fresh herbal nose.

Incognito Mojito

Incognito Mojito

1½ oz C.W. Irwin Bourbon
¾ oz Simple Syrup
¾ oz Lime Juice
Club Soda
2-3 Fresh Mint Sprigs
Lime Wedge for garnish

Remove only the mint leaves from two of the mint sprigs. Begin by adding only mint to the bottom of a shaker tin. Gently muddle mint without breaking it up too much. Now add lime juice, simple syrup and ice. Give the ingredients a 15-20 second shake. Strain over fresh ice into a highball glass. Top with club soda water and garnish with remaining mint sprig and lime wedge.

Here is a great play on the classic mojito. As the temperatures increase outside, it’s nice to have a few options to mix up for patio sipping or for guests. This cocktail shines bright, as the flavor of the C.W. Irwin Bourbon is still present with a touch of mint and lime.
