Berry Patriotic

Berry Patriotic

2 oz C.W. Irwin Bourbon
¾ oz Lemon Juice
1 oz Simple Syrup
1 Egg White
1 oz Distiller’s Choice Blackberry Cordial
CW Irwin Bourbon Cherries for Garnish

Add all liquid ingredients except the Blackberry Cordial to a clean shaker tin without ice. Shake vigorously for about one minute, then add ice and shake vigorously a second time to chill ingredients. Strain into a rocks or Collins glass. Then pour the Blackberry Cordial over the back of a bar spoon on top of the cocktail. This technique is referred to as a “float” and the cordial should stay evenly balanced at the top of the glass. Garnish with a skewer of fresh blueberries and a strawberry.

Enjoy, and have a safe and happy Independence Day!

Black-Eyed Jon

1 oz One-Eyed Jon
½ oz Lime Juice
½ oz Orange Juice
½ oz D.C. Blackberry Cordial
2 oz Atlas Blackberry Cider
2-3 Blackberries for Garnish

Begin with a clean shaker tin, add One-Eyed Jon, lime, orange juice, cordial and shake until tin is cold to touch. Strain into lowball glass with 1 large craft ice cube. Top with Atlas Blackberry Cider. Garnish with a skewer of blackberries.

A well-rounded spiced rum paired with effervescence from blackberry cider and sweetness from blackberry cordial make for a very palatable sipping cocktail.

Valentine’s Duo

Valentines Duo

Valentine’s Day is approaching quickly! If you haven’t decided what cocktails you’ll be serving or enjoying, I’ll suggest a great duo. Both cocktails are approachable, and a hint of Distiller’s Choice Blackberry Cordial brightens up both of these classic cocktails. A mildly sweet martini was selected for the lady’s cocktail and a slightly higher proof Manhattan for the gentleman’s cocktail. Both drinks are phenomenal served up, but if preferred they’re also great on the rocks.

His Cocktail:
Blackberry Manhattan
2 oz C.W. Irwin Bourbon
1 oz Distillers Choice Blackberry Cordial
1-2 Dashes Bitters

Combine all ingredients in shaker tin. Add ice and stir gently until well mixed. Strain into a martini or coupe glass. Garnish with skewer of blackberries.

Her Cocktail:
French Kiss
1 1/2 oz Oregon Spirit Vodka
1 oz Distiller’s Choice Blackberry Cordial
3/4 oz Pineapple Juice

Combine all ingredients in shaker tin. Add ice and shake vigorously until cold to touch. Strain into martini or coupe glass. Garnish with a skewer of blackberries.

Berry Heartfelt Crush

Berry Heartfelt Crush

1 oz Ottis Webber Wheat Whiskey
1 oz D.C. Blackberry Cordial
2 Drops Angostura Bitters
Club Soda
Sugar Cube
3-4 Blackberries for muddling & garnish

Begin by muddling 2-3 blackberries in bottom of mixing glass. Add sugar cube, then bitters directly on top of sugar cube. Using a muddler, crush sugar and bitters until well blended into berries. Now add ice, then whiskey, followed by cordial and finally top with club soda. Garnish with a blackberry on bamboo skewer.

Whiskey neat is always nice but while dreaming of warmer weather I always enjoy a good Old Fashioned. The addition of our Distiller’s Choice Blackberry Cordial adds depth and finishes nicely in this cocktail.
